2026: Twenty One Day Fast

What Is And How To Fast:

Fasting is a sacred spiritual discipline that helps us quiet the flesh and draw closer to God. It is an intentional act of humility, prayer, and focus—not a public display, but a private invitation for God to work deeply within us. As Jesus taught, fasting is done unto the Father, creating space for repentance, guidance, and spiritual breakthrough.

Throughout Scripture, fasting takes different forms, but the heart is always the same: aligning ourselves with God’s will. True fasting is never about personal gain; it is about transformation. Isaiah reminds us that God’s chosen fast loosens burdens, frees the oppressed, and moves us toward compassion, justice, and love in action.

Important guidance:

Fasting should always be approached with wisdom and care. It is strongly encouraged that you consult with a medical professional before beginning any fast, especially one involving food or drink. Additionally, committing yourself intentionally to prayer, Scripture, and meditating on the Word of God is also a meaningful form of fasting and is fully honoring to God.

Biblical types of fasting include:

Complete Fast – Abstaining from all food and drink for a set period (Esther 4:16).

Partial Fast – Restricting certain foods or meals, such as the Daniel Fast, avoiding meats and sweets (Daniel 10:3).

Corporate Fast – A community or congregation fasting together for a shared purpose (Joel 2:15–16).

Individual Fast – Personal fasting for guidance, clarity, or breakthrough (Matthew 4:1–2).

As you begin this fast, root yourself in God’s love. Let prayer and His Word nourish your spirit as you deny the flesh. This is a time to be strengthened inwardly, to allow Christ to dwell deeply in your heart, and to let His love guide every step of the journey.

As you prepare:

Release distractions and doubts, clarify your purpose for fasting, commit to daily prayer and Scripture, and thoughtfully prepare the practical details. May this fast lead to renewal, clarity, and a deeper walk with God.
